Brügg is situated at the southeast edge of Biel. Cut off from neighbouring communities to the south by the Nidau-Büren canal, Brügg has always been dominated by the bridges for which it was named. No less than five such structures connect Brügg with the towns/villages around it. Längholz forest and parts of the riverbank along the Aare are popular areas for recreation. A number of culinary establishments invite you to extend your stay. As late as World War II Brüggmoos was no more than a patch of peat. In the decades since it has developed into an industrial zone of regional importance.
