Gampelen is the only community in the Canton of Bern that borders on Lake Neuchâtel. The TCS-campground there, the naturism-camping "Die Neue Zeit" and the "Fanel" nature reserve have gained Gampelen a faithful following of regular visitors. Stately old homes and a church dating back to 1513 lend the village a definite country charm. From the "Känzeli", one enjoys a glorious view across much of the Seeland region. The vineyard right below is the home of the fine "Gampeler"-wine. Gampelen is the starting point for a number of attractive walking tours; e.g. learn about the history of the Jolimont region as you follow the educational trail from Tschugg to Erlach.
