The name of this village is intimately connected to the correction of the Jura waters, since the waterway built between Aarberg and Lake Biel is called Hagneck canal. The village has some 360 inhabitants and is a starting point for walks and bicycle tours throughout the vegetable growing areas of the Seeland or to the south shore of Lake Biel.
