Siselen's first mention in the historical records goes back to 1160. As part of the district of Nidau, Siselen has been under Bernese rule since 1388. Vegetable growing and selling are the main economic activities here. The village with its solid and comfortable country inns has maintained its country air. In fact, it is one of the town and villages throughout the country that have been put under protection as historical landmarks. Wanderers and cyclists may want to stop for refreshments or even stay the night.
