"With the Biel/Bienne town map showing Robert Walser’s favourite places in my hand, I climb up to his "Greek temple" in the light of late November to look out across the houses and the lake to the distant places where he travelled. Autumn time is theatre time. Time for the stage in the old town, where he himself played a robber in Schiller’s "Die Räuber". In the Untergasse I feel as though I can see his two men studying the magnificent window displays in the glow of the butcher’s shop. Did somebody just say, "Tongue, one franc forty"?"

In the area surrounding Biel/Bienne, five literary walks follow the landscapes and locations from Robert Walser’s prose and recount certain passages from the text: to the "End der Welt", onto St. Peter’s Island, to the Bözingenberg and around the lake.
